Newspaper clippings, 1851-1878, collected by Rev. Sabato Morais of Philadelphia. Some of the clippings have handwritten captions above them. The clippings are of both Jewish and general interest, mentioning events from 1436 to 1878, including articles on the Bene Israel of India, the historical question of whether Joan of Arc was indeed burned, an obituary for Rev. S. Isaacs, the Italian nationalist movement of Mazzini, Civil War campaigns of General Grant, etc. Some of the clippings are items about Morais himself, including an article that cites him as being opposed to the return of Jews in free countries to the Holy Land. The sources of the clippings are not noted.
